Why we built this
A lot of these calculations involve units and rules that are specific to Bangladesh: Katha and Bigha instead of just square metres, NBR’s own tax slabs, VAT rates that vary by sector, gold-based Zakat Nisab. Generic international calculators usually don’t cover them, or get the local details wrong. Gonona BD is built specifically around those local rules, and kept up to date as they change.
How accurate are the calculators?
Every calculator on Gonona BD is built from published rules: NBR’s Finance Ordinance, standard land-measurement conversions, and so on. We detail our sources, verification process, and update cadence on the Methodology & Sources page, and define the specialist terms we use (TIN, Nisab, Khatian, and more) on the Glossary. That said, these are planning estimates, not official filings. For anything with legal or financial consequences, such as filing taxes, registering land, or signing a loan, always confirm the final figures with the relevant authority, your bank, or a licensed professional.
Who’s behind Gonona BD
Gonona BD is maintained by a small editorial team who research, build, and test each calculator against official sources before publishing, and who revisit tools when a rule changes, such as NBR’s annual tax slab update. We’re not a bank, a law firm, or an accountancy practice. We’re a reference tool, and we say so clearly wherever the distinction matters. See exactly how each tool’s figures were sourced on the Methodology page.
Your data
Every calculator and text tool on Gonona BD runs entirely in your browser. Numbers and text you enter are not sent to or stored on any server. Closing the tab clears everything.
