Where exact age matters in Bangladesh
Precise age in years, months, and days comes up constantly on official paperwork: matching your NID (National ID) or birth registration certificate on a job circular, verifying 5 vs 10-year validity rules for an E-Passport application, checking eligibility for school admission cut-offs, or confirming you fall within an exam's age limit, such as the BCS (Bangladesh Civil Service) exam administered by the Public Service Commission. Because these limits are usually stated as an exact date range rather than "roughly X years old," a same-day miscalculation can matter.
When applying for government jobs through Teletalk portals (AllJobs, BPSC, Primary DPE, Railways), applicants must also submit compliant digital photographs and signatures. You can crop and resize your applicant photos client-side on our Teletalk ছবি ও স্বাক্ষর রিসাইজার (300×300 Photo & 300×80 Signature Resizer). If you also want to convert your English date of birth to traditional Bangla San, check our Bangla Calendar & Panjika (বাংলা ক্যালেন্ডার) or verify upcoming retirement deadlines against the official Public Holidays Gazette (সরকারি ছুটির তালিকা).
Worked example
Someone born on 15 June 2000, checked as of 4 September 2026, is 26 years, 2 months, and 20 days old. The calculation counts 26 complete years from June 2000 to June 2026, then 2 complete months from June to August, then the remaining 20 days from 15 August to 4 September. This is the same method used on most Bangladeshi government forms that ask for exact age.
Why the day count sometimes needs "borrowing"
When the reference date's day-of-month is earlier than the birth date's day-of-month, like someone born on the 28th being checked on the 4th of a later month, the day count would go negative. The calculator handles this the same way manual date arithmetic does: it borrows a month, subtracting one from the month count and adding the number of days in the previous month to the day count, so the result always comes out as a valid, non-negative years/months/days figure.
FAQ
- How is age in years, months and days calculated?
- Gonona BD counts complete years, then complete months within the current year, then the remaining days, the same way age is stated on most official forms, rather than rounding to the nearest year.
- Can I check my age as of a future or past date?
- Yes, change the "Calculate age as of" field to any date, such as an exam or job application deadline, to see your age on that specific day.
- What is the minimum voting age in Bangladesh?
- 18 years, based on the date of birth on your NID or birth registration certificate.
- What is the age limit for the BCS exam?
- The Bangladesh Public Service Commission (BPSC) sets the age limit for each BCS circular (normally 30 to 32 years depending on category). Once you verify your age eligibility, prepare your 300×300 circular photo on our Teletalk Image Resizer.
- Why does the day count sometimes look unusual?
- If the reference date's day-of-month falls before the birth date's day-of-month, the calculation borrows a month, similar to how manual subtraction across place values works, so the final years/months/days figure is always accurate.
- Is this age calculator free?
- Yes, free to use, with no sign-up required.
